This article parallels the works of the multidisciplinary academic group on children and coronavirus (MACC) in Israel with a multidisciplinary team from John Hopkins’ own efforts to create data-driven solutions to minimize health and education inequities for children throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This project produced several outputs including a series of free, web-based, school-reopening modules for school and district administrators; a 2020-2021 School Reopening Tracker based on publicly available data sources; a Teacher & School Staff Vaccination COVID-19 Dashboard; and a COVID-19 Global Education Recovery Tracker. Peer Review Study, Summary Report/Recommendations
The guidance outlined in this report provides a roadmap for the ethical inclusion of pregnant women’s experiences in in the development and deployment of vaccines against emerging viruses. Recommendations include bolstering health information surveillance systems, stakeholder engagement with health care, women, families and communities, and changing the narrative about pregnancy and clinical research efforts. Recommendations require commitment of financial resources, addressing inequities in public health and whenever possible, the inclusion of perspectives of pregnant women. Lastly, the authors recommend that “When there is a limited supply of vaccine against a pathogenic threat that disproportionately affects pregnant women, their offspring, or both, or when only one vaccine among several is appropriate for use in pregnancy, then pregnant women should be among the priority groups to be offered the vaccine.” This prioritization process is key to addressing inequities and are guidance for future pandemic response efforts.

This scoping review of public health interventions summarizes the lessons learned from the HIV prevention literature to inform the development of COVID-19 prevention and mitigation strategies. The authors focus on multiple levels of intervention, including intrapersonal, interpersonal, community, and social factors. Each of these provides a reference point for understanding and elaborating on social/behavioral lessons learned from HIV prevention and treatment research. Further, preventing the worst care scenarios of COVID-19 morbidity and mortality can be achieved by incorporating strategies that address the intrapersonal, interpersonal, community, and societal levels of data-driven and well-coordinated interventions. While HIV prevention and treatment sciences have not always achieved these goals, the lessons that have been learned should help guide the development of efforts that respond to COVID-19 and future pandemics.

This article provides guidance on planning for a COVID-19 vaccination uptake strategy given widespread misinformation and to ensure equitable access. An essential component of this strategy is countering the anti-vaccination movement that promotes hesitancy and resistance. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a tsunami of misinformation and conspiracy theories that have the potential to reduce vaccine uptake. To make matters worse, sections of the population in many countries display low trust in governments and official information about the pandemic and how the officials are tackling it. Therefore, this paper aims to assist those responsible for promoting COVID-19 vaccine uptake to digest the vast guidance and formulate an effective locally relevant plan.
