This article examines growth rates of confirmed COVID-19 cases and mortalities over a 30-day period of the COVID-19 outbreak for each of the 100 largest U.S. cities to determine how racial residential segregation and income inequality contributed to health disparities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data shows the growth curve for cases and mortality rates increases significantly in metropolitan areas where Black and Hispanic people are residentially segregated from White people. The article offers policy implications for making virus-resilient cities that are also health equitable.

Systematic Review/Meta-Analysis
This article details a systematic review of current literature sources to identify how the Latinx community experiences disparities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The review found literature using population data that showed policies impacting access to health insurance, health care, sick leave, childcare, and historic wage disparities remain consequential in perpetuating existing disparities. The purpose of this brief is to highlight some of the strategies states are pursuing to address equity in allocating their ARPA child care funds. It also provides a framework to support decision making around how to use recovery funds that focuses on the needs and preferences of families—particularly families that face barriers to accessing high-quality ECE. Strategies include: (1) Conducting town halls with families, providers, and other early childhood stakeholders to inform state priorities for allocating the funding.(2) Partnering with intermediary organizations to conduct outreach and technical assistance around the stabilization grants with ECE providers. (3) Using the Social Vulnerability Index to distribute grants to ECE providers that serve the communities most in need within their state.

The planning framework that is the crux of this toolkit takes leaders through four key steps: Reground, Prioritize, Plan, and Connect. At each step, leaders are prompted with a series of key questions to help clarify their thinking and decision-making. These resources help leaders move from making decisions in a reactive, crisis-driven way to developing intentional short- and long-term actionable plans.

This article describes G4H, an intervention to mitigate loneliness. This article identifies the need for more interventions to address loneliness and seeks to contribute to the evidence available through a randomized controlled trial where individuals participate in either a group based belonging intervention (G4H) or in cognitive behavioral therapy. The research takes place in Australia and included 174 people who received the intervention prior to COVID-19, with follow up measures collected after COVID-19. Results indicated that both CBT and G4H were effective at improving symptoms, but G4H showed higher benefits regarding loneliness, depression, and wellbeing.
