The report’s authors – physicians and public health and policy experts – note massive disparities experienced by Black Americans. The worse outcomes, are a predictable result of structural and social realities. The predicates that caused these disparities have long been present. These are cycles we have to break. The report highlights areas for immediate focus and attention, and presents a set of expert-generated recommendations for action.

This resource discusses Project: ACE-IT which is a school-based testing intervention implemented in Pennsylvania. The goal of the program was to reduce in-school transmission risks through routine testing for symptomatic and possibly asymptomatic staff and students. This program was originally adapted from a school-based program in Texas, and has expanded using a ‘train the trainer’ model with materials available on the website.

This paper reviews pathways from evictions to COVID-19 transmissions and presents some of the policies related to eviction, such as eviction moratoria, that have been implemented in the US, including the CARES Act at the Federal level and research by the Eviction Lab comparing eviction policies in 25 cities. It reports the effects of offering eviction counsel to citizens at risk of eviction in New York City, the Michigan Eviction Diversion Program, and the expansion of Medicaid in some California counties through the Affordable Care Act. This series of case studies examines nine communities (in Kansas, Texas, Wisconsin, Alabama, New Mexico, Washington, Michigan, Florida, and New York) to understand the impacts of COVID-19 on community members and local mitigation efforts. The case studies offer examples of lessons learned from these nine communities related to health, economic response, in-person schooling, and affordable housing. Practices that were shown to be successful in these communities include using operational equity plan to allocate resources, engaging community members in decision making, and building cross-sector relationships between businesses, government, and non-profits for increased collaboration and information sharing.
