This research paper discusses various public health agency websites and official government websites in countries with more than 5,000 confirmed COVID cases. The researchers used various methods to determine the readability level of the websites. The researchers found that official COVID information put out by states often exceeded the recommended reading level, while federal information was found to be much more readable, most likely due to federal mandates for readability. Recommendations are to use plain-language COVID resources to be more accessible to all audiences.

This article parallels the works of the multidisciplinary academic group on children and coronavirus (MACC) in Israel with a multidisciplinary team from John Hopkins’ own efforts to create data-driven solutions to minimize health and education inequities for children throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This project produced several outputs including a series of free, web-based, school-reopening modules for school and district administrators; a 2020-2021 School Reopening Tracker based on publicly available data sources; a Teacher & School Staff Vaccination COVID-19 Dashboard; and a COVID-19 Global Education Recovery Tracker. This article recognizes the challenges and describes the adaptations necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace. It also emphasizes employee mental health needs. A theoretical framework for organizational interventions is included that utilizes an Occupational Health Psychology approach. The proposed interventions focus on 8 key topics, such as physical health and safety, and psychological wellbeing, in addition to a tiered structure (primary, secondary, and tertiary) of proposed intervention activities that scale based on need.

This resource discusses Project: ACE-IT which is a school-based testing intervention implemented in Pennsylvania. The goal of the program was to reduce in-school transmission risks through routine testing for symptomatic and possibly asymptomatic staff and students. This program was originally adapted from a school-based program in Texas, and has expanded using a ‘train the trainer’ model with materials available on the website.

Case Study
This case study outlines how the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) incorporated health equity capacity into their collaborative work with community partners (the case study refers to this as a “public health cloud”). To do so, MCDPH created internal trainings, hired consultants to provide recommendations in strategic planning, and created a health equity cloud to connect staff directly to underserved communities in order to improve internal practices.

Case Study
The case study describes how the New York City Department of Health created a Race to Justice Core Team to advance racial equity within the department, with a specific focus on coordinated policies and workplans across all of the department’s divisions and staff. The team has focused on training staff and on creating workplans that address bias in hiring, contracting, and policies.
