This review summarizes the factors contributing to COVID-19 inequities among immigrant communities. The review concludes with the overarching recommendation of engaging and empowering immigrant communities. Facilitating factors to address health inequities in this population include providing linguistically appropriate services, addressing poverty, and ensuring undocumented immigrants have access to public benefits.

Peer Review Study
The resource presents 7 recommendations to mitigate COVID-19 health disparities among African Americans in the areas of data collection, COVID-19 exposure and testing, health systems collaboration, human capital repurposing, and resource allocation. The authors based the recommendations on the existing public health literature and and on an analysis of relevant bioethical principles. The authors also provide information on the efforts of Chicago, Illinois’ mayoral Racial Equity Rapid Response Team to reduce these disparities in a major urban US setting.

This qualitative study conducted focus groups with Black and Latino residents in New Jersey to better understand their experiences and perceptions of COVID-19 related policies, practices, and vaccination opportunities. The information shared emphasizes the lived experiences of minority populations navigating COVID-19’s impact on family, community, health, and historical beliefs/concerns.
