The recommendations include: 1) de-stigmatization, 2) decentralized care, 3)contact-tracing and follow up, 4) use of technology/mobile/digital tools, 5) develop mechanisms to combine routine management of other diseases and COVID-19, and 6) community-specific interventions.

This report collects the strategies that urban health departments used to protect residents experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness during COVID-19. Strategies included working with community partners (particularly shelters) to expand housing, increasing outreach and resource allocation to people experiencing homelessness, and building better communication networks.

This report details the immense toll the COVID-19 pandemic has taken, and continues to take, on Black communities. The report’s authors – physicians and public health and policy experts – note massive disparities experienced by Black Americans. The worse outcomes, are a predictable result of structural and social realities. The predicates that caused these disparities have long been present. These are cycles we have to break. The report highlights areas for immediate focus and attention, and presents a set of expert-generated recommendations for action.

This article describes the multi-pronged approach taken by the Klamath tribes to address COVID-19 across multiple tribal communities. An Emergency Preparedness Incident Management Team (IMT) managed the response by implementing outreach, wrap-around services (groceries, residential, medicine, etc.), tribal policies, and testing protocols. Between March to September 2020, no deaths were reported (unlike the county overall) and 12% of tribal members were tested.

This case study profile provides several examples of disability-focused community approaches. For example, a drive-through testing resource was created by the Northwest ADA Center, which provides ways to address various considerations for testing sites, such as wheelchair access, service animals, people who are deaf, and people who are blind. Other examples include a mobile testing unit for individuals with disabilities in Union County, NJ, creating a reserved time for testing access for individuals with disabilities, conducting a risk analysis of testing sites for accessibility, and providing interpreter services at testing sites.

FEMA has created a collection of best practice case studies housed on the website. It is a collection of key findings and considerations by FEMA for jurisdictions and communities regarding ongoing COVID-19 pandemic operations. They cover food banks, government engagement with citizens, considerations for people with disabilities, community emergency response teams, and volunteer management.” There is also a “Preparedness in a Pandemic” toolkit available.

This resource is outlining partnerships between a medical institution and local faith-based organizations to discuss COVID-19 strategies. Places of worship were encouraged to identify members as COVID-19 leaders, disseminate public health messaging, create safe policies for public worship (including contact tracing), and prepare their communities for COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
