Program to Encourage Active, Rewarding Lives is designed to support older adults thorough depression education and skill building to increase self sufficiency and active living. The program is structured over 6-8 weeks of sessions and is designed to be administered by staff who have no previous counseling or mental health education. The program originally started in the 1990’s in Washington state and has since been implemented with a wide range of minority and hard-to-reach populations.

Prepared by the Community-Based Workforce Alliance, this report provides steps for local health departments (LHDs) looking to integrate community health workers (CHWs) into their health equity efforts. Utilizing a framework based on the Community Health Worker Assessment and Improvement Matrix and adapted to the COVID-19 response within the U.S., this report presents a continuum of engagement across several key areas to design or improve CHW-based programs to deliver optimal results. The report also includes a series of strategic recommendations for making discrete improvements across all areas of engagement.

This article describes an interprofessional, biopsychosocial approach to integrating services for survivors of family and intimate partner violence (FIPV) in a healthcare setting. The approach is based on a medical-legal partnership model with input from a community advisory board of individuals with lived expertise. This article includes the key themes and recommendations from a panel discussion of public health practitioners and researchers on the role of complementary and integrative health (CHI) providers, including chiropractors and naturopathic doctors. Throughout the pandemic, public health and medical practitioners have been overwhelmed, whereas CHI providers experienced reductions in their clinical practices. This article examines the barriers to involving CHI practitioners in COVID-19 response and provides recommendations and solutions for removing these barriers.

This article describes the development, implementation, and evaluation of an online tool called RiskRadar which aims to help at-risk individuals prevent, test, and connect to care for conditions including HIV, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, and various sexually-transmitted infections. This tool helps connect individuals to the most up-to-date information available for various diseases and helps consider the individuals risk level based on reported activities.

This review summarizes the factors contributing to COVID-19 inequities among immigrant communities. The review concludes with the overarching recommendation of engaging and empowering immigrant communities. Facilitating factors to address health inequities in this population include providing linguistically appropriate services, addressing poverty, and ensuring undocumented immigrants have access to public benefits.

Peer Review Study
This article details the COVID-19 testing strategy used in Worcester, Massachusetts created by the citywide Equity Task Force. The strategy was based on engaging residents to use data to identify communities impacted by COVID-19 and to develop tailored testing/education/outreach strategies. Pop-up testing sites was the main approach to testing utilized by the city. Engagement improved over the course of the implementation.
