RELEASE DATE:
Peer Review Study
This study looks at county-level socioeconomic health factors with demographic data to examine COVID-19 incidence and mortality from January to July 2020. The results showed that a wide number of social determinants, including household composition, minority status, and environmental factors, significantly impact health disparities for minority populations.
Promising Practices that show evidence of effectiveness in improving public health outcomes in a specific real-life setting, as indicated by achievement of aims consistent with the objectives of the activities, and are suitable for adaptation by other communities.

Peer Review Study
This study contains preliminary data about correlations between COVID-19 infection and mortality rates and racial/ethnic/minority groups in seven heavily impacted states (Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, Louisiana, and Massachusetts). The data found that African Americans were more vulnerable to infection and mortality than other populations, and that socioeconomic and other health factors play a significant factor in disparities.

Summary Report/Recommendations
This article provides insight and recommendations into how providers and healthcare systems can address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on sexual and gender minority groups by ensuring equitable treatment. Sexual and gender minority populations are an underserved and marginalized demographic that could be affected disproportionately by the social, psychological, financial, physiological, and mental health impacts of COVID-19. The authors provide steps for equitable treatment by healthcare staff, which include: (1) maintain and increase cultural responsiveness training and preparedness for SGM populations, (2) increase use of sexual orientation and gender identity measures in surveillance, (3) conduct research on the impacts of COVID-19 on SGM populations, and (4) include equity-focused initiatives in disaster preparedness plans. These actions toward equity would begin to allow for our current health system to care more appropriately for SGM populations.

Peer Review Study
This study examined racial/ethnic disparities, exposure risks, testing rates, positive tests, and case rates for California residents from March to October 2020 to identify racial/ethnic groups with high-risk households. The study finds that Latinos are disproportionately affected, being approximately 8 times more likely to live in a high-risk household than other racial/ethnic groups
